KobeniHigashiyama

Kobeni is in this job because her parents made her choose between Public Safety and college, and Public Safety was cheaper. She is small, anxious, shaking most of the time, and convinced she is going to die on every assignment. Statistically, she is correct, which makes the fact that she is still alive at the end of Season 1 one of the quieter miracles in the show.

The thing nobody in Division 4 knows is that Kobeni is a better athlete than any of them. When the Eternity Devil traps them on the eighth floor and offers a deal, she is the one who cracks under the pressure and points a knife at Denji's throat. She is also the one who, later in the Katana Man raid, cartwheels across a rooftop dodging katana swings and puts two bullets into the hybrid in a way even Kishibe applauds. Fear does not make her weak. It makes her read every exit in every room before she walks in, and then, when a fight comes, her body just does the thing. The show treats her as comic relief, then quietly shows you that she is one of the strongest rookies in Public Safety.
