Background
Katana Man, also called Samurai Sword, is the first real antagonist Division 4 has to chase down. He is a devil human hybrid, same category as Denji, contracted with the Katana Devil. When he transforms, his right forearm becomes a straight blade and his jaw grows into a sword edge, and the rest of him moves like a man who has already decided everyone in the room is dead.
His motivation is revenge. The yakuza boss Denji killed in episode 1 was his grandfather, and Katana Man spent the intervening year climbing the Gun Devil's contractor network looking for the punk who did it. He and Akane Sawatari hit Division 4 during the Katana Man arc and nearly wipe the whole division out in one coordinated strike. He kills Himeno, Hirokazu, and half the rookies, captures Denji alive, and only loses because Makima calmly executes his entire support structure from a train car in Kyoto.
In episode 12 he gets his rematch. Chainsaw Man versus Katana Man, head to head, no tricks. The season ends mid fight.
